Coleman, Ragin' Cajuns Perform Well at Rainy Boots Garland Invitational

Three top-5 marks in women's 100-meter hurdles highlight event in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE – Emoni Coleman produced a first-place time in the women's 800-meters while the trio of Serenity Rogers, Kennedy London and Reagann Leleux each produced all-time marks in the women's 100-meter hurdles to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team at the Boots Garland Invitational on a rainy Saturday at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Damon Guidry cleared a season-best 6 feet, 7 inches in the men's high jump to finish second overall for Louisiana while Brooklynne Wilson (women's discus) and Taylor Davis (women's high jump) each recorded second-place finishes in their respective events.

Coleman recorded Louisiana's lone first-place finish after posting a time of 2 minutes, 17.06 seconds to claim the 800 meters. She was joined in the event by teammate Haley Salsbury who was 10th overall in 2:20.77.

Rogers led a group of four Ragin' Cajuns hurdlers to top-11 finishes after finishing fourth overall in a personal-best 13.52. The mark was the third-fastest recorded in Ragin' Cajuns history with London (13.71) producing the fourth-fastest time and Leleux (13.79) the fifth. Freshman Osayi Omorodion placed 11th overall for Louisiana with a time of 14.01.

Wilson posted a throw of 168-6 to finish second overall in the women's discus for Louisiana before her mark of 165-10 in the hammer throw was the third-best in school history. Davis and Griffin each cleared 5-4 ¼ in the women's high jump for Louisiana while Cammi Martinez and Jordan Brown each cleared 12-0 in the women's pole vault.

Nick Russell cleared 15-11 ¼ in the men's pole vault to finish fourth overall for the Ragin' Cajuns with Matthew Standridge (15-5 ½) finishing seventh. Rylan Theyard earned a pair of top-10 finishes for Louisiana, placing fourth overall in the men's high jump (6-5) and finishing eighth in the long jump (22-8).

John Joseph posted a mark of 23-0 ¾ to finish seventh in the long jump for Louisiana while Kaiden Burgess was fourth in the javelin (179-6) and Tyren Hannah fifth in the shot put (50-11 ½).

Yves Cherubin (14.19) and Tahj Whitfield (14.45) each produced top-10 times in the men's 110-meter hurdles for Louisiana with Rashid Reese (1:57.25) and Caedmon Kyles (1:58.06) finishing in the top-10 in the men's 800-meters.

Zachary Sampson placed sixth overall in the men's 400-meter hurdles (57.45) while the Ragin' Cajuns 4x100-meter relay team of Trejun Jones, Terroll Jolla, Jamhad Booth and Brock Appiah was third overall (40.25).

Kiana Foster (11.65) and Ta'La Spates (11.79) each finished in the top-6 overall in the women's 100-meters for Louisiana while joining London and Rogers in the women's 4x100-meter relay which finished fourth overall (45.23).

Salsbury added a sixth-place time (11:05.40) in the women's 3,000-meters for Louisiana and was joined in the top-10 by Ally McCulley (11:48.96) and Pierra Charles (11:50.60. India Brown added a sixth-place finish in the women's 400-meters (56.63) for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana will return to action on Saturday (April 24) when it travels to Natchitoches to compete in the NSU Leon Johnson Invitational at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.
