Louisiana To Split for Meets at LSU, Arkansas State

Ragin' Cajuns return to track after two-week break with pair of events
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team continues its 2021 Indoor Season with a pair of weekend meets beginning on Friday when it travels to Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Invitational at Carl Maddox Field House.

Louisiana will conclude the weekend on Sunday when it sends 33 athletes to Jonesboro, Ark., to compete at Arkansas State's Scarlet and Black Invitational at First National Bank Arena.

Live results for both meets will be available at RaginCajuns.com. Due to COVID-19 protocols, spectators will not allowed at either meet.

at LOUISIANA INVITATIONAL (Friday)
Louisiana will send 34 athletes to its second competition of the 2021 Indoor Season and first since the LSU Purple Tiger on Jan. 16. The Ragin' Cajuns recorded five first-place finishes in their first competition in 11 months.

Joining Louisiana and host LSU in the 10-team, non-scoring meet comprised of in-state schools include Grambling, ULM, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern.

Competition begins with field events at 10 a.m., followed by running events beginning at 1 p.m.

Cole Courtois, a 2019 All-American, will make his 2021 debut in the men's pole vault for Louisiana with Rylan Theyard making his season-debut in the men's high jump. Tahj Whitfield, ranked sixth in the Sun Belt Conference in the 60-meter hurdles, will look to better his initial time (8.17) set two weeks ago on the same track with freshman Tyren Hannah entering his second collegiate meet ranked No. 6 in the SBC in the men's shot put (49-1 ¾).

Reagann Leleux, ranked No. 4 overall in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.70) will compete in the 60-meter dash and pole vault for Louisiana with Kelly Goff, Rosalie Michot and Ally McCulley each making their 2021 debut in the 3,000-meters.

Brooklynne Wilson, ranked No. 9 in the Sun Belt in the women's shot put (43-1 ¾) returns for her second meet of the season in the women's shot put and weight throw with freshman Nya Terrell also competing in both events.

at SCARLET AND BLACK INVITATIONAL (Sunday)
Theyard (men's long jump, triple jump) and Whitfield (men's long jump) are the lone members scheduled to compete in both meets for Louisiana, which will send the majority of its sprinters and jumpers.

Trejun Jones, the top-ranked runner and ranked No. 25 nationally in the 60-meter dash, will make his 2021 debut in the 200-meters for Louisiana where he will be joined in the event by Brock Appiah, Warrick Baker, Jamhad Booth and Terroll Jolla.

Johneisha George, ranked No. 6 in the women's 60-meter dash, will also debut in the women's 200-meters for the Ragin' Cajuns where she will be joined by teammates Kiana Foster, Kennedy London, Kennedy Price, Mari Robinson, Reina Ryan and Ta'La Spates.

Taylor Davis and Frankie Griffin will each compete in the women's high jump for Louisiana with freshman Ariel Young – the SBC's No. 5-ranked member in the triple jump – also competing.

Caedmon Kyles, who posted the No. 5 mark in the men's 800-meters in his collegiate debut, will join teammates Tyrell Hargrove and Rashid Reese in the 800-meters for Louisiana with Obdarius Ware, ranked No. 2 in the men's long jump, and John Joseph, the No. 3 individual in the men's triple jump also competing.
