Louisiana Travels to Rice for Midweek Matchup

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Baseball team will travel to Rice University on Tuesday, March 3 to face off with the Owls for the first time since 2016 when the Ragin' Cajuns took home a 4-2 win. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Ragin' Cajuns come into this week's game at 4-8 after hosting Sam Houston State this weekend and earning two wins, while the Owls enter the contest with a 2-8 record. Louisiana has won three consecutive games against Rice dating back to 2016.

The Ragin' Cajuns will start RHP Carter Robinson, who started two games this season against Virginia Tech and Louisiana Tech. Robinson has pitched 9.2 innings, owns a 1.86 ERA and is holding opposing hitters to a .242 batting average this season.

The Owls are planning on starting RHP Ryan Rickett, who is in his first year with the program. Rickett has made three appearances this season and has given up four earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched.

Most recently, Louisiana hosted Sam Houston State and walked away with two wins after a 1-0 win Saturday and a 7-5 win on Sunday. On Saturday, Brandon Young became the first pitcher to throw a complete game shutout since Evan Guillory in 2016, fanning 11 batters on 113 pitches.
