Louisiana, Georgia State Set To Face Off At Cajundome

Sun Belt contest is #Gimme5 Whiteout Cancer Game
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team returns home to the Cajundome on Thursday when it faces Sun Belt Conference rival Georgia State in the Coaches Vs. Cancer #Gimme5 Whiteout Cancer Game.

Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KHXT 107.9 FM and the Hot 107.9 mobile app with Jay Walker on the call. The game will also be available on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (PxP) and former Ragin' Cajuns point guard Eric Mouton (Color) providing commentary. Live results will available at CajunStats.com.

Louisiana (9-14, 4-8 Sun Belt) opens the final month of the season playing four of its final eight regular-season games at home. The Ragin' Cajuns split on their roadtrip last week, edging UT Arlington last Thursday before a five-point loss at Texas State on Saturday.

Jalen Johnson (15.2 points per game), Cedric Russell (12.3) and freshman Mylik Wilson (11.5) are the top scorers for Louisiana with Johnson (6.9), Dou Gueye (5.8), Tirus Smith (5.4) and Wilson (5.3) pacing the team in rebounds.

Georgia State (15-8, 8-4 Sun Belt) enters the game as the Sun Belt Conference leader in scoring (79.0), field goal defense (.395), 3-point field goal percentage (.375), 3-point defense (.288) and steals (8.6).

The game is part of the American Cancer Society's and Coaches Vs. Cancer #Gimme5 Whiteout Cancer game with fans encouraged to give $5 towards the #Gimme5 campaign with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society in its fight against pediatric cancer.

Head coach Bob Marlin is pledging $100 for every 3-pointer made by the Ragin' Cajuns in the game and Whiteout shirts will be provided to all who donate at least $5. Shirts will be available for pickup at the Feb. 6 game.

Louisiana Athletics and Our Lady of Lourdes will be working with local families effected by cancer by providing an experience for kids with complimentary tickets being provided to families. Prior to the game, local families will be recognized on the court with a starter intro ceremony, a Tip-Off Kid of the Game along with t-shirt tosses.Â

Country music singer Julie Roberts will perform the national anthem prior to the game and will perform at halftime. Roberts will also be performing on Feb. 7 at the Grouse Room with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Â
