Final tuneup for Louisiana prior to Sun Belt Indoor Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a two-week hiatus, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team prepares for its final tuneup before the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships as it returns to action on Friday when it travels to compete at the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Action starts with field events at 8 a.m., followed by running events at 11. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana, which competed in events two weeks ago at the University of Houston and McNeese State, makes the first of two consecutive trips to Birmingham. The Ragin' Cajuns will return to the Magic City on Feb. 24-25 for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships.
A pair of top-rated Sun Belt Conference performers – Dominique Williams (men's weight throw) and Frankie Griffin (women's high jump) – will compete for Louisiana. Williams, the defending SBC Indoor champion in the weight throw, is ranked No. 29 nationally in the event while Griffin is ranked No. 41 nationally.
Cole Courtois (men's pole vault) and Shaquille Singuineau (men's shot put) each enter Friday's competition ranked No. 3 in the Sun Belt Conference in their respective events with Yves Cherubin (men's 60-meter hurdles) ranked fourth.
A pair of freshmen – Emoni Coleman (women's 800-meters) and Kennedy London (women's 60-meter hurdles) are ranked sixth and eight respectively in their events for Louisiana with Alexis James (women's weight throw) ranked seventh.
