Ragin’ Cajuns Outlast Reigning Southland Conference Champs, 5-2

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Louisiana Men's Tennis team moved its record to 7-1 on the season after defeating reigning Southland Conference Champions Texas A&M Corpus Christi 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Louisiana captured the doubles point, and an early lead in the match, thanks to Jamie Fraser and Ivailo Keremedchiev sealing a 7-6 victory over Thomas Rodrigues Lopes and Pascal Lorieul. Karlo Kajin and Pierce Gilheany paired up to take down Kyohei Yamanaka and Carlos Berna Ruiz, 6-4 to complete the point.
The Ragin' Cajuns collected their four remaining points through four singles victories from Fraser, Keremedchiev, Gilheany and Jan Galka.
Fraser displayed tremendous resilience, bouncing back from a first set loss to take his match, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4. Keremedchiev continued his early season dominance, downing Rodrigues Lopes 6-3, 6-3 and improving his overall singles record to 4-0 on the year.
No. 1 singles player Jan Galka battled William Mottet outlasting him, 7-5, 7-6. Mottet went 15-8 in singles matches last season. Gilheany was the other Ragin' Cajun to earn a singles victory, doing so against Carlos Berna Ruiz, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5.
Louisiana's next outing is a visit to Rice on Friday, Feb. 7 before returning home for three straight matches at Cajun Courts spanning from Feb. 9 to Feb. 14.
