Louisiana Picked Second in Sun Belt West Division

Ragin’ Cajuns earn one first-place vote in the preseason conference rankings
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball was picked to finish fourth overall and second in the West Division in the 2020-21 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Ragin' Cajuns tallied 111 points in the poll, trailing preseason favorites Troy (140), UT Arlington (115) and South Alabama (112). The four programs took all of the first-place votes, with the Trojans claiming nine of the possible 12 votes and the other three school's claiming one each.
A year ago, Louisiana was picked to finish eighth in the league's preseason poll before battling its way through a difficult league schedule to finish fourth overall, clinching home-court advantage in the first two rounds of the Sun Belt Tournament.
On Wednesday, senior Ty'Reona Doucet and junior Brandi Williams were both selected to Preseason All-Conference Teams.
Doucet was one of five players tabbed on the First Team, while Williams earned a spot on the league's Third Team. Louisiana joins South Alabama, Troy and UT Arlington as the only programs in the league to have at least two players tabbed on the preseason teams.

The CAJUNDOME will operate at a significantly reduced capacity for the 2020-21 season (unless state policy changes during the season). This will allow for fans and University students to be accommodated this season.
Should disruptions or modifications to the 2020-21 season occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Athletics will quickly communicate the adjustments through its social media channels and RaginCajuns.com. Additionally, the department will communicate any changes to specific entry and attendance protocols for home games.
To celebrate the program's 50th season, fans can purchase season tickets at the $50 price point season tickets by visiting RaginCajuns.com/WBBTix and will also be able to enjoy in honor of the special season.
