Louisiana Heads West To FasTrak Collegiate Invitational

Second of three straight meets in Lone Star State for Ragin' Cajuns

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team heads west to the Lone Star State for the second consecutive week when it competes at the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston.
 
Field events begin at 10 a.m. with running events starting at noon. Live results will be available on the Track and Field page at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana will be joined in the 12-team field by Division I schools Houston, McNeese, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UTSA along with Texas A&M-Kingsville, Trinity (Texas), Texas Lutheran, Texas Wesleyan and Our Lady of the Lake (Texas).
 
The Ragin' Cajuns, making the second of three straight trips to the state of Texas, claimed first-place honors in men's competition at last week's Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station. Louisiana recorded four, first-place finishes along with a combined 20 top-five performances in the 17-team field.
 
Dominique Williams is one of 15 student-athletes ranked in the top-five among Sun Belt Conference, will look to build off a successful start to the 2020 indoor season. Williams, ranked No. 2 in the Sun Belt in the men's weight throw, posted a season-best throw of 64 feet, 8 inches at the Ted Nelson Invitational to claim first-place honors in the event.
 
Shaquille Singuineau (men's shot put) and the men's 4x400-meter relay team are ranked second overall for Louisiana with the men's distance medley relay team posting the Sun Belt's top time (10:48.78) through the first two events of the season.
 
Terroll Jolla (men's 200-meter dash), Tahj Whitfield (men's 60-meter hurdles), Rylan Theyard (men's high jump), and Cole Courtois (men's pole vault) enter the meet ranked No. 3 on the Sun Belt Conference Performance list in their respective events with Key Alfred (men's 800-meter run), Frankie Griffin (women's high jump), Kimmie Rushford (women's pole vault), Chandler Mixon (men's pole vault), John Joseph (men's triple jump) and the women's 4x400-meter relay team ranked fourth.
 
Alexis James, ranked No. 5 in the Sun Belt Conference in the women's weight throw, is slated to compete along with Reagann Leleux (women's pole vault, women's long jump, 60-meter hurdles) and Kaprecia Cowans (women's long jump, triple jump).
