Louisiana finishes ninth in season-opener; heads to Graeme McDowell Invitational
SAN ANTONIO – Peter Hinnant and Hudson Dubinski each fired a final round score of 1-over-par 73 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team wrapped up play in its first event of the season with a ninth-place performance at the Lone Star Invitational on Tuesday at TPC San Antonio.

Jack Tolson notched his seventh career top-20 finish for Louisiana, which carded an overall team score of 12-over-par 300 in the final round to finish at 903 for the 54-hole tournament and ahead of New Mexico State (904) and McNeese State (912).

Playing on the same course that hosts the PGA's Valero Texas Open, Hinnant climbed 13 spots up the leaderboard after the second round on the par-72, 7,435-yard course to finish in a tie for 32nd-place at 11-over 227. The junior, who started his final round at No. 15, fired a 1-under par 35 on the front nine for the Ragin' Cajuns, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 602-yard No. 2 hole before capping off his day with a birdie at No. 14.

Dubinski climbed 17 spots up the leaderboard for Louisiana and into a tie for 34th at 12-over 228 after posting birdies on the back nine at No. 14, 17 and 18. Tolson recorded a final round score of 4-over 76 to finish at 223 for the tournament and a tie for 20th place with George Gardner of Houston.

Charlie Flynn (231) finished in a tie for 48th-place for the Ragin' Cajuns with Micah Goulas (232) finishing tied for 51st. Justin Caldwell, who was playing as an individual, finished tied for 62nd after posting a three-round score of 240.

South Alabama claimed team medalist honors in a sudden death playoff after posting the lowest team score in the final round (294) to finish in a three-way tie with first-day co-leaders Houston and UT Arlington at 873.

Lipscomb (887) and Little Rock (892) rounded out the top five in the 11-team field with ULM (896) and host UTSA (896) finishing in a tie for sixth place, followed by Rice (901), Louisiana (903), New Mexico State (904) and McNeese (912).

First-day leader Nolan Ray of Lipscomb held on to claim medalist honors after firing a 1-over 73 and finishing at 9-under 207 overall, one stroke ahead of ULM's Guillaume Fanonnel. Â

Louisiana will return to action beginning Monday when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., to compete at the UAB-hosted Graeme McDowell Invitational at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
