Tolson Leads Louisiana At Graeme McDowell Invitational

Cajuns to tee off Tuesday's final round at 8:15 a.m.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Jack Tolson recorded 10 birdies and put himself in position for a second straight top-20 finish while the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished in a tie for 12th place after the opening day of the Graeme McDowell Invitational on Monday at Greystone Golf and Country Club.

Louisiana, competing in its second event of the 2019-20 season, carded identical team scores of 300 to finish at 600 after 36 holes and tied with Wofford in the 19-team field.

Final round action of the 54-hole tournament will begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m. Louisiana, which will officially tee off at 8:15 a.m., will be paired with Winthrop, High Point and Jacksonville State in the final round. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

Tolson opened the day for the Ragin' Cajuns with a 2-over-par 74 before coming back in the afternoon to card a 1-under-par 71. Tolson carded six birdies in the afternoon session on the par-72, 7,299-yard course, including three straight holes beginning at the par-4, 448-yard No. 8.

The Opelousas native, who notched his seventh career top-20 finish, concluded the first day tied for 23rd place at 1-over 145 and seven strokes behind first-day co-leaders Linus Lo of Western Kentucky and Ben Reichert of host UAB.

Peter Hinnant (73-78-151) and Charlie Flynn (76-75-151) each finished in a tie for 48th place for Louisiana with newcomer Hunter Hammett (77-76-153) and Hudson Dubinski (78-84-162) rounding out the lineup.

North Florida took advantage of a 10-under 276 in the second round to claim the first-day lead over host UAB. The Ospreys, ranked No. 19 nationally by GolfStat, shot a 36-hole total of 564 to take a one stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final round.

Arkansas State (573), Memphis (575) and No. 17-ranked South Carolina (584) rounded out the top five with Chattanooga (589), Southern Miss (589), ULM (590), Lipscomb (592) and Western Kentucky (594) rounding out the top 10.
