Louisiana Finishes Fourth, Fifth At UNO XC Opener

Cajuns earn combined six top-20 finishes in season-opening meet
NEW ORLEANS – Key Alfred and Stanley Limoh each posted top-20 finishes on the men's side while four runners earned top-20 finishes on the women's side to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team at the New Orleans Cross Country Opener on Friday at Lake Oaks Park.

Louisiana placed fourth overall in the women's 4,000-meter race with 75 points and followed Tulane (42), Nicholls State (47) and host UNO (56) in the eight-team event. The Ragin' Cajuns placed fifth overall in the men's 5,000-meter event with 114 points and following UNO (34), Tulane (40), Loyola (87) and Nicholls (97).

Alfred posted a time of 16 minutes, 18.2 seconds to finish 14th overall for Louisiana with Limoh earning a 20th-place finish after crossing the finish line in 16:30.4. Freshman Samuel Avants clocked a time of 17:01.5 in his collegiate debut for Louisiana with Conner Meche finishing 36th (17:10.9), Jonathan Kimutai 39th (17:17.6), Rashid Reese 40th (17:24.5), Solomon Brent 46th (17:54.3), Riley Plunkett 50th (18:16.2) and Chandler Burns 51st (18:21.7).

Three newcomers paced Louisiana on the women's side with freshman Rosalie Michot earning a seventh-place finish in her collegiate debut. The Lafayette High product clocked a time of 15:57.9 to lead Louisiana with freshman Emoni Coleman posting a 10th-place performance in her debut (16:19.7).

Lauren Cantrelle placed 14th overall for Louisiana after finishing in 16:33.6, with Ally McCulley finishing 19th (16:50.7), Kate Ferguson 31st (18:14.4) and Meredith Hebert 35th (18:35.9).

Louisiana will return to action on Sept. 14 when it travels to Arlington, Texas to compete at the Gerald Richey Invitational.
