@RaginCajunsWT Comes Up Short At ULM

4/10/2019 7:10:00 PM | Women's Tennis

MONROE, La. – In a midweek match, Louisiana Women's Tennis (6-13, 1-7 SBC) lost, 4-1, to in-state foe and Sun Belt Conference member ULM Warhawks (10-4, 5-3 SBC) on Wednesday afternoon at Heard Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): Louisiana did start the match by completing a comeback in doubles to take that point to open things.  The comeback was completed with wins at No. 3 and No. 1, after Louisiana dropped the match at No. 2.

Sophomore Floriane Picaut and freshman AK Harvey got Louisiana's comeback started at No. 3 with a 6-1 win over ULM's pairing of Florencia Salerno and Jimena Garbino, evening up the doubles matches.  At No. 1, Louisiana's freshmen duo of Ai Noa Fabre and Hoda Habib notched the Ragin' Cajuns the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Emilia Alfaro and Tiffany Phaysouphan, giving Louisiana a 1- lead heading into singles.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Unfortunately for Louisiana, the momentum gained in the doubles comeback did not carry over to singles, were Louisiana lost the next four matches to drop the match.  The first loss came at No. 1 when Picaut fell in straight sets to Alfaro, 6-1, 6-2.

ULM's next win came at No. 4 with Fabre dropping her match to Garbino in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, which pushed ULM into the lead with the score at 2-1.  At No. 5, sophomore Morgan Forshag came up short against ULM's Angeles Maria Cueto, 6-1, 6-3, putting ULM one win away from winning the match.

The clinching point for the Warhawks came at No. 2, when sophomore Dana Radovanovic lost in a three-set marathon to Shivani Manjanna, 6-0, 5-7, 6-3.  Radovanovic bounced back strongly after dropping the first set, but she could not keep the momentum as she lost the third set to lose the match and it locked up ULM's 4-1 win on the day.

UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana wraps up the 2019 season with a visit to Jonesboro, Arkansas to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Sunday, April 14 with that match set to begin at 10 a.m.
