ATLANTA – Louisiana Women's Basketball (6-16, 4-7 SBC) continues the Georgia swing, with a Saturday afternoon, 2 p.m. game, at Georgia State (12-9, 6-4 SBC) on Feb. 9 at the GSU Sports Arena in downtown Atlanta, Ga.

PREVIEWING THE GAME: On Jan. 10, Louisiana and Georgia State last met on the court with Louisiana coming away with a 57-54 win at the CAJUNDOME.  The win extended Louisiana's winning streak over Georgia State to nine games, with the Ragin' Cajuns having won never dropped a game in Atlanta, going 5-0.

This is the sixth straight season that Louisiana has made a trip to the GSU Sports Arena, with Louisiana having the last four matchups in Lafayette, La.  All-time Louisiana leads the series 9-2, with Georgia State having won the first two matchups between the two programs before Louisiana ripped off nine straight wins.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Louisiana, despite its best shooting performance of the conference season, dropped its game at Georgia Southern, 79-71.  The Ragin' Cajuns came out of the locker room in the second half and jumped on and passed the Eagles with an 11-0 run over the first five minutes of the third quarter. 

But a late call on junior forward Kendall Bess last in the period, sparked the Eagles to go on a 7-0 run to finish quarter with the lead.  Georgia Southern did not give back the lead over the final 10 minutes to come away with the Thursday evening game.

Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, while freshman guard Brandi Williams tied her career-high, finishing with 25 points for the third time this season.

Sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis tied her career-high, finishing with 14 points to give Louisiana at least three scorers who finished in double figures for the fifth straight game.  Louisiana shot 47 percent from the field, which was the best performance from the field in conference play this season and the third-best shooting performance overall this season.

ANOTHER 25 FROM WILLIAMS: During Louisiana's game at Georgia Southern, Williams once again was on fire, finishing with 25 points for the third time this season, tying her career-high.  What was impressive was that Williams entered the second half having only scored five points in the first half, before going off in the second half, scoring 20 points.

WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Williams has been impressive through 21 games, she is averaging 12.5 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .426 percent from the field.  The 12.5 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the leading scorer among freshmen.

10 DOUCET SPECIALS: Doucet once again dominated the game, finished with her Sun Belt Conference leading 10th double-double of the season when she scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds during Louisiana's game at Georgia Southern.  The 10 double doubles for Doucet ranks her 27th in the NCAA in double doubles recorded.

MATHIS DISHES IT OUT: Over the past four games, Mathis has been moving the ball well, averaging 2.5 assists per game during that stretch.  She recorded a conference season-high with five assists in Louisiana's game at Georgia Southern.

ROAD WARRIORS: During the month of February Louisiana will earn its frequent flyer miles, playing four out of its six games on the road.  Louisiana will first make the Georgia swing, (Feb. 7-9), followed by a quick trip to Monroe, La. (Feb. 16), a one-game homestand against Texas State (Feb. 23) before wrapping up the month on the east coast with the Carolina swing (Feb. 28-Mar. 2).

HIGH FLYING FRESHMEN: Williams and fellow freshman guard Andrea Cournoyer have been scoring machines over 10 conference games, with Williams averging in double figures and Cournoyer sitting just under that in Sun Belt play.  Williams is averaging 14.7 ppg., and AC is averaging a respectable 9.7 ppg.

LOUISIANA FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN KEY: Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court over the Ragin' Cajuns' 22 games played so far.  Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 29.4 points per game total, which is just under half of the 61.5 points per game that Louisiana is averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .372 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .382.

WHAT THE PANTHERS BRING: Georgia State and Louisiana last met on Jan. 10, at the CAJUNDOME with Louisiana coming away with a 57-54 win.  The Panthers enter Saturday's game having won its previous two games, including a 68-46 win over ULM on Feb. 7, and the Panthers have won four out of their last five games.

Georgia State sits in the Top-3 in the conference in terms of scoring defense, ranking third in the SBC giving up 61.8 points per game.  Offensively the Panthers sit middle of the pack in the conference, ranking seventh scoring 62.2 points per game.

Across the remaining main statistics in the conference, Georgia State ranks middle of the road, sitting sixth in field goal percentage (.400); fifth in field goal percentage defense (.396); fifth in three-point field goal percentage defense (.302) and fifth in blocked shots per game (2.9).

Leading the Panthers in scoring is Jada Lewis, who is scoring 14.8 points per game, while Allison Johnson (10.7 ppg.) and Walnatia Wright (10.2 ppg.) are each scoring in double figures to give the Panthers three players scoring over 10 points.  Lewis ranks sixth in the conference in scoring, first in the conference in minutes played (36.4 mpg.) and seventh in the conference in three-point field goals made (1.9).

Wright is leading the team in rebounds per game (8.4) and field goals percentage (.497).  Shaq Miller-McCray leads the team and the conference in blocks (39).
