PREVIEWING THE GAME: Louisiana and Georgia Southern last matched up on Jan. 12, at the CAJUNDOME, with Louisiana coming away with a 59-48 win for its second of what would be a three-game winning streak during the heart of January.  The game at Hanner Fieldhouse will be the third straight season that Louisiana has made the trip to Statesboro, with Louisiana winning the previous matchup at Hanner Fieldhouse, 58-48, on Feb. 10, 2018 and Louisiana holds a 3-1 record all-time in the historic gym.

All-time Louisiana leads the series with Georgia Southern 8-1, with the Ragin' Cajuns having won the previous two meetings between the two programs.  Georgia Southern's lone win came in Statesboro on Feb. 2, 2017, when the Eagles came away with a close 63-60 win.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Louisiana dropped its second game of its three-game homestand over a three-game week with a 76-58 loss to Coastal Carolina on Feb. 2. During the game, Louisiana struggled from the field shooting only 32 percent while the Chanticleers shot 51 percent from the field to pull away in the second half.

The Ragin' Cajuns did get a strong performance from junior forward Kendall Bess, who finished with career highs in points (11) and rebounds (seven) all off the bench in 26 energy filled minutes.  Freshmen guards Andrea Cournoyer (10 pts.) and Diamond Morrison (12 pts.) each finished in double figures, giving Louisiana three scorers in double figures for the fourth straight game.

ROAD WARRIORS: During the month of February Louisiana will earn its frequent flyer miles, playing four out of its six games on the road.  Louisiana will first make the Georgia swing, (Feb. 7-9), followed by a quick trip to Monroe, La. (Feb. 16), a one-game homestand against Texas State (Feb. 23) before wrapping up the month on the east coast with the Carolina swing (Feb. 28-Mar. 2).

PLAYING WITH THE BESS ENERGY: Bess played with energy and passion during Louisiana's game against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 2.  She finished with a career-high in points (11) and rebounds (seven), coming off the bench to provide a spark for Louisiana.

MORRISON HAS THE RANGE: Morrison has been lights out from three-point range, going 21-for-44 from beyond the arc, shooting a conference best .477 in 20 games played.  Morrison's .477 three-point field goal percentage gives Morrison the third-best three-point field goal percentage in the country.

DOUCET'S BIG NIGHT: Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet had a big night in Louisiana's 73-55 win over App State (Jan. 31), finishing with 28 points, just one point off tying her career-high of 29 points, and grabbing 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.

WHAT A QUARTER: During the third quarter against App State, Louisiana outscored the Mountaineers 24-6, which was the biggest positive scoring margin in a quarter by Louisiana throughout the 2019 season.  The +18 margin is the best for Louisiana since Jan. 4, 2018 when the Ragin' Cajuns outscored App State 20-2 in the fourth quarter.

GOODWIN'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Sophomore guard Skyler Goodwin recorded her first career double-double in Louisiana's loss to UT Arlington, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds.  The 10 rebounds are a season-high and ties a career-high that was set at Georgia Southern on Feb. 10, 2018.

HIGH FLYING FRESHMEN: Williams and Cournoyer have been scoring machines over nine conference games, each averaging double-figures in Sun Belt play.  With Williams averaging 13.7 ppg., and AC averaging 10.2 ppg., making them the top two scoring freshmen in Sun Belt Conference play.

WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Williams has been impressive through 20 games, Williams is averaging 11.9 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .404 percent from the field.  The 11.9 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the leading scorer among freshmen.

LOUISIANA FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN KEY: Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court over the Ragin' Cajuns' 21 games played so far.  Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 29.1 points per game total, which is just under half of the 61.0 points per game that Louisiana is averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .369 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .378.

MATHIS ON LOCKDOWN: Over a three-game stretch from Jan. 24-29, sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis was a force stealing the basketball.  During the stretch she recorded seven steals averaging 2.3 steals per game, and in the final two games of the stretch she recorded three steals in each game which were first a career-high and then tied a career-high.

WHAT THE EAGLES BRING: Georgia Southern comes into the matchup with Louisiana having lost its previous nine out of 10 games, including its previous game, 83-66, vs. Georgia State.  While the Eagles sit near the bottom of most stats ranking in the conference, what Georgia Southern does do well is shoot free throws, as the Eagles' .721 free throw percentage is the best in the Sun Belt.

The Eagles also sit in the top-five in three-point field goals made, having drained 128 shots from beyond the arc, averaging 6.4 per game.  Averaging 60.5 points per game and giving up 71.2 points per game, the Eagles sit 10th in the conference in both scoring offense and scoring defense.  While the -10.8-scoring margin places the Eagles dead last at 12th in the Sun Belt.

One major bright spot for the Eagles is leading scorer Alexis Brown, who is averaging 17.7 points per game and she is the leading scorer in the Sun Belt.  Tatum Barber is the other member from Georgia Southern who is scoring in double digits, averaging 10.3 points per game.

Amira Atwater, who is leading the Eagles in assists, averaging 5.3 apg., also sits atop the conference in terms of a assists as well.  Hailey Dias-Allen leads the Eagles on the boards, averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
