Louisiana, Detroit Mercy To Face Off In MGM Resorts Main Event

Second-ever meeting between schools on the hardwood

LAS VEGAS – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team makes its first appearance in Las Vegas since 2014 when it faces Detroit Mercy on Monday in a Middleweight Bracket of the MGM Resorts Main Event at Las Vegas' Clark High School.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on both KHXT 107.9 FM and ESPN 1420 AM. A live video stream (subscription required) will be available via FloHoops.com. Live results will be available at CajunStats.com.
 
Louisiana (3-2) finished the on-campus portion of the four-game event last Thursday with a 69-61 overtime setback at Wyoming. The Ragin' Cajuns opened the tournament on Nov. 12 at TCU.
 
Jalen Johnson paces Louisiana in both scoring (17.6 ppg.) and rebounds (6.8 rpg). Cedric Russell (15.6 ppg) and Kobe Julien (14.4) are next in scoring for the Ragin' Cajuns with Dou Gueye (9.4) and Mylik Wilson (8.8) following.
 
Detroit Mercy (1-3) earned its first victory of the season on Sunday with an 86-74 win over UC Irvine. Antoine Davis scored 23 points to lead the Titans, who sank 15 3-pointers in the contest and placed four players in double figures.
 
Louisiana will wrap up the MGM Resorts Main Event on Tuesday when it faces UC Irvine at 3 p.m. CT.
