Hot Start To Season Continues For @RaginCajunsWT With 5-2 Win Over UIW

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Women's Tennis (3-0) continued its hot start to the 2019 season with a strong 5-2 win over Incarnate Word (0-1), Saturday afternoon at Cajun Courts, to extend its season opening winning streak to three matches.
Leading the charge for Louisiana were juniors Milena Achlamov and Marina Rodriguez Garcia, who both won their singles and doubles matches, including Achlamov getting the clinching point, to help power Louisiana through the day. Adding wins in singles were sophomore Floriane Picaut and freshman Ai Noa Fabre, giving Louisiana exactly what it needed to win the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED (DOUBLES): Louisiana began the match by winning the doubles point after taking two of the three doubles matches. First to win their doubles match was the pairing of sophomore Morgan Forshag and Achlamov, defeating Incarnate Word's Alejandra Tamayo and Taylor Parkinson, 6-0.
Sophomore Dana Radovanovic and Garcia clinched the doubles point by taking down Alejandra Landaluce and Jelena Dordan by a score of 6-3, giving Louisiana a 1-0 lead as things rolled into singles.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SINGLES): Louisiana carried its winning ways into singles as well, taking four out of the six singles matches. Garcia notched herself another victory, defeating Landaluce in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Louisiana got one point away from the win after Picaut's straight set, 6-4, 6-4 win over Dordan, putting Louisiana up 3-0.
Achlamov, clniched the win for Louisiana when she defeated Parkinson 7-6, 6-3, extending Louisiana's win streak to three matches. Also victorious for Louisiana was Fabre over Tamayo 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 30 where the Ragin' Cajuns will continue its match with McNeese State that was postponed due to weather, on Tuesday, Jan. 22. The match, which will start at Cajun Courts at 1 p.m., will pick up right where the two programs left off, with Louisiana having won the doubles point, holding a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
