@RaginCajunsTRK Places Two In Top Five At Samford Multi

Louisiana to compete at Samford Invitational on Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Chandler Mixon and Franz Beyer each turned in top-5 performances in the men's heptathlon as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team wrapped up competition on Friday at the two-day Samford Indoor Multi at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Competing in the final three events in the seven-event slate, Mixon earned a fourth-place finish with a personal-best 4,791 points with Beyer following in fifth place with 4,601.
Mixon opened the day with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing second in his heat and posting a time of 8.73 seconds. Beyer claimed second place in his heat and finished sixth overall after crossing the finish line in 8.90.
Beyer finished as the top collegiate athlete in the pole vault, clearing 13-5 ¼ to earn a third-place finish with Mixon finishing fifth at 12-9 ½. Beyer closed out the day in the 1,000-meter run, finishing eighth overall (3:00.29) with Mixon finishing 10th (3:05.41).
Solomon Simmons, who was competing unattached, claimed the title with 5,825 points with Atsu Nyamadi finishing second (5,567) and Paris Williams of Kennesaw State third (5,328).
Louisiana will close out the weekend on Saturday competing at the Samford Invitational. Competition begins at 8 a.m., with field events with running events starting at 9:30.
