ATLANTA – In their final regular season match the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team fell to the No. 61 Georgia State Panthers, 4-3, at the GSU-Clarkston Campus Tennis Courts, but the Cajuns fought to the finish, winning the final two matches on the day after the Panthers clinched the win.

Junior Arthur Libaud got his ninth straight win in singles, and sophomore Pearse Dolan won his seventh straight match as the Cajuns fought to the finish. Sophomore Elio Lago got back to winning ways, winning his singles match to give him 14 wins in his past 15 matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): The Cajuns started day in a 1-0 hole, dropping all three doubles matches. The first match to finish was at No. 3 when Georgia State's duo Andrukhou and Showers beat the Cajuns pairing of Dolan and freshman Nico Sojka 6-1.

No. 2 finished next, when the Panthers' duo of Hussey and MacFarlane beat Libaud and sophomore Jamie Fraser, 6-3, that win locked up the doubles point for the Panthers. The match at No. 1 was played out following the result at No. 2 and Georgia State's pairing of Duarte and Acuna beat Lago and senior Vlad Kramarov, 6-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Georgia State then took a 2-0 lead with the first win in singles, coming at No. 1 when Andrei Andrukhou beat Sojka in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Louisiana then got on the board at No. 5, when Dolan snatched a straight set win, 6-1, 6-4, over Bailey Showers, to put the score at 2-1.

The Panthers then won the next two matches to clinch the victory. They got their next win at No. 6 when Jack MacFarlane beat Fraser 6-2, 6-3. Georgia State then clinched things at No. 4 when Kramarov fell to Giles Hussey, 6-3, 6-3.

Georgia State's win at No. 4 locked up the win, but the Cajuns weren't finished just yet. Showing the fight, they've had all season long, they took the next two matches to show they were ready in-case of a rematch in the Sun Belt Conference Men's Championships that are right around the corner.

The road to proving a point started at No. 3 when Libaud fought off Georgia State's Quentin Coulaud in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5. Louisiana then finished off the day on a positive note, taking the final match of the day at No. 2 when Lago took down Sebastian Acuna in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. The final two wins by the Cajuns put the final score at 4-3 and the Cajuns came off the courts with their heads held high.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: With the 2018 regular season wrapped up, the Cajuns head to Peachtree, Ga., for the SBC Men's Tennis Championships that start on Friday, Apr. 20 and run until Sunday, Apr. 22 where a conference champion will be crowned.
