Women's Tennis Faces GS In SBC Championships First Round

LAFAYETTE – The eighth seeded Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team opens up the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championships, on Thursday, Apr. 19, with a 7:00 a.m. CT matchup against the ninth seeded Georgia Southern Eagles.
HOW TO LISTEN/TRACK THE MATCH: The match will be broadcast across the radio on RadioTennis.com and live stats will be provided for the match by the Sun Belt Conference.
DREW GETS FIRST-TEAM: Senior Kelly Drew was named to the 2018 All-SBC First-Team in singles and she became the first member of the Cajuns to gain the honor since Ariana Urantani was named to the 2001 All-SBC Team. Drew's highlight win came against South Alabama when she took down Alexandria Stiteler, then nationally-ranked No. 90, in straight sets, 7-6(6), 6-4, on Mar. 1.
WHAT THE EAGLES BRING: This is the first matchup between the Cajuns and Eagles in each school's history and the Eagles enter as the ninth seed, carrying a 13-6 record into the conference championships. Georgia Southern brings a six-match winning streak into the match with the Cajuns and their past three wins have come against SBC competition taking down Georgia State, Appalachian State, Arkansas State.

The Eagles snagged two All-SBC Team awards, with Arianne de Winter getting named to the second-team in singles and the pairing of de Winter and Paula Boixader were named to the second-team in doubles.
IF THE CAJUNS WIN: If Louisiana wins their first-round match, they'll move onto the quarterfinals where they'll match up with the No. 1 seeded Troy Trojans on Friday, Apr. 20 with that match scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. CT.
