NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to open a five-game road trip on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. as the Cajuns face in-state foe Tulane at Turchin Stadium.

The Series
 
Louisiana holds a 47-44 lead in the all-time series with Tulane after splitting a pair of games last year. The road team won both times in 2017 with the Green Wave picking up a 6-4 victory in Lafayette before the Ragin' Cajuns claimed a 1-0 shutout in New Orleans a month later.
 
The Cajuns are 15-18 against Tulane with head coach Tony Robichaux at the helm including a 7-10 mark in New Orleans.
 
Scouting Louisiana
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (6-9) are coming off of a series loss to South Alabama after taking the opening game 2-1. Louisiana fell in game two of the series 7-3 before seeing the series slip away with an 11-5 loss on Sunday.
 
The Cajuns are 2-1 in midweek games this season with wins over Nicholls and LSU. Senior Colten Schmidt will make his fourth start of the season boasting a 1-0 record with a 1.50 ERA. Schmidt has posted a quality start in his last two outings.
 
Offensively, junior Gavin Bourgeois has raised his average up to .310 on the season with a pair of doubles and five RBI. Bourgeois is riding a 10-game on-base streak, while junior Hunter Kasuls has reached in seven straight games and is hitting .273 with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI.
 
Scouting Tulane
 
Tulane (8-8) comes into the contest having taken two of three from Purdue over the weekend. The Green Wave blanked the Boilermakers 1-0 in the series opener and then went on to clinch the series on Sunday with a 6-2 victory.
 
As a team, Tulane is hitting .274 with 41 doubles, two triples and nine home runs. Jonathan Artigues paces the club with a .350 average, five doubles, a home run and 11 RBI. Grant Weatherspoon has a team-best three home runs and 16 RBI while hitting .313.

The Cajuns continue their five-game road trip at Georgia Southern this weekend as the squad opens Sun Belt Conference play on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT at J.I. Clements Stadium. Following the series with the Eagles, Louisiana will wrap up the road trip on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a contest at McNeese.
