LAFAYETTE – In what will be Louisiana Women's Basketball's (2-8) last non-conference game of the season, the Ragin' Cajuns head to Starkville, Miss., on Dec. 30, to take on No. 8 Mississippi State (11-1) for the second-straight season.

HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN/FOLLOW: On television, the game will be covered on the SEC Network Plus with Charlie Winfield (pxp) and Brock Turnipseed (analyst) handling the call. Steve Peloquin will handle the radio call, with the game being broadcast on 1420AM.
PREVIEWING THE GAME: This will be the second-straight season that Louisiana and Mississippi State have faced off, with last season's game being played in Jackson, Miss., at the Mississippi Coliseum. Mississippi State won that game, 94-37, and the Bulldogs are 10-0 all-time against Louisiana as this will be the 11th matchup between the two programs and the first in Starkville since 2013.
REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Louisiana dropped its final non-conference home game of the season when Louisiana State came away with a 76-54 win at the CAJUNDOME on Dec. 20. It was the first game that Louisiana and Louisiana State had played against each other in Lafayette since 1998 and the first to be played in the CAJUNDOME since 1990.
At the final buzzer, and for the eighth time this season, Louisiana had at least three players score in double-figures, with sophomore guard Skyler Goodwin leading the way with 12 points. Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet added 11 points while freshman guard Diamond Morrison finished with 10 points.
Freshman guard Andrea Cournoyer came off the bench to lead Louisiana's bench with eight points on 3-for-7 shooting from the field. While Doucet, who finished 3-for-5 from the field, added five rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals.
Junior forward Kendall Bess led Louisiana's bench in minutes, playing 24 minutes, finishing with four points on 1-for-5 shooting from the field and she went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.
DOUCET OWNS THE GLASS: Over Louisiana's first 10 games, Doucet has been a force on the glass and the production has shown on the stat sheet. So far, she has averaged 11.6 rebounds per game and grabbed 116 total boards. That puts her in nationally in the Top-15 in rebounding, with her 11.6 rpgs., putting her 15th in the country.
FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN BUSY: So far this season, Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court. Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 29.3 points per game total, which is just under half of the 63.9 points per game that Louisiana is 100 averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .375 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .398.
WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Freshman guard Brandi Williams has been impressive through Louisiana's first 10 games, scoring 11.0 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .383 percent from the field. The 11.0 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the second leading scorer among freshmen.
HERE COMES GOODWIN: Goodwin has been a solid stretch over the last three games, and it has shown in the stat sheet. Over Louisiana's three-game stretch through the month of December, Goodwin has averaged 10.3 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game.
WHAT THE BULLDOGS BRING: Mississippi State enters the game ranked No. 8 in the nation, and the back-to-back National Runners-up have only just recently lost its first game of the season, falling to No. 7 Oregon, 82-74, on Dec. 18. The loss to Oregon snapped a 46-game non-conference winning streak for Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs got back on the winning track just two days later when they took down Washington, 103-56 on Dec. 20 in Mississippi State's most recent game.
As a team, Mississippi State rank in the Top-10 in several national categories, with the Bulldogs ranking first in total blocked shots (82) and scoring margin (38.3). Mississippi State sits second in the country in scoring offense (91.7); third in blocked shots per game (6.8); fourth in turnover margin (8.8); fifth in field-goal percentage (.352); sixth in assist turnover ratio (1.5); eighth in both total assists (228) and offensive rebounds per game (18.0); ninth in free throws made (192) and 10th in free throw attempts (270).
Individually Mississippi State has four student-athletes scoring in double-figures, with Teaira McCowan leading the way with 17.0 points per game. Anriel Howard (16.1 ppg.), Jordan Danberry (12.1 ppg.) and Chole Bibby (12.1 ppg.) wrap up Mississippi State's four top scorers.
McCowan is averaging a double-double, leading the team in rebounds per game, coming in at 12.7 rpg. While, Jazzmun Holmes, who ranks first in the nation in assist turnover ratio (5.4), leads the team in assists recorded 65 total assists for an average of 54 assists per game.
