Louisiana to close out home schedule on Friday vs. New Orleans
LAFAYETTE – Coleman Wahlborg and freshman Jamie Fraser each picked up a pair of victories and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team picked up a pair of 4-0 victories over Prairie View on Sunday at Cajun Courts.
Vlad Kramarov and Pearse Dolan each picked up a straight-set victory in the nightcap for Louisiana (13-10). Arthur Libaud and Elio Lago added a straight-set victory in the opening match for the Ragin' Cajuns, with only singles played against Prairie View (4-23) in both matches due to early morning thunderstorms and more inclement weather in the forecast.
"We were lucky to get the matches in today with the looming weather," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "We just need a good week of practice to get back on track as we head into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament."
Wahlborg, playing at No. 6 singles, opened the day with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Zachary Suico before recording a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Anirudh Yadav. Fraser picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Yadav at No. 5 to open the day before defeating Suico, 6-3, 6-2, in the nightcap.
Libaud claimed a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Prairie View's Ulrick Boyogueno at No. 1 singles before Lago clinched the opening match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Freddy Quintero. In the nightcap, Kramarov defeated Quintero at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4 before Dolan clinched the nightcap with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Boyogueno at No. 2.
Louisiana will return to action on Friday (April 7) when it faces New Orleans in the home finale at 2:30 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns will honor Wahlborg and fellow senior Eric Perez prior to the match. Admission at all Ragin' Cajuns tennis matches is free.
