Cajuns To Host Troy In Breast Cancer Awareness Game

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team hosts Troy in the Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday at the Cajundome.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KROF 960 AM, along with on the internet via the Radio Pup app.

Louisiana (13-8, 7-5 SBC), which is coming off a 62-38 win over South Alabama on Thursday, is led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (19.0 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game, three-point field goals made per game (3.0) and minutes played per game (38.5).

Junior Simone Fields is fifth in the league in scoring (14.9 ppg) and third in field goal percentage (.547). Freshman Jasmine Thomas (9.9 ppg), junior Troi Swain (8.4 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (5.8 ppg) and senior Gabby Alexander (5.2 ppg) are all key contributors for the Cajuns.
Troy (16-6, 9-2 SBC) is coming off a 94-67 win at ULM on Thursday and is led in scoring by senior forward Caitlyn Ramirez (12.1 ppg). Ramirez is first in the SBC in rebounds per game (9.5).
Senior Jayla Chills (10.9 ppg), senior Claresa Banks (9.7 ppg) and junior Amanda Mendoza (8.4 ppg) also lead the Trojans. Mendoza is first in the league in free throw percentage (.872) and first in assist/turnover ratio (2.3).
There will be a silent auction during the game to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. All donations will benefit the Andrea Brodhead Foundation. Brodhead, who is the late wife of head coach Garry Brodhead, passed away in 2015 after a battle with cancer.
