Cajuns Set To Host Warhawks In SBC Play

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team faces ULM on Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference game at the Cajundome.

Louisiana (7-4, 1-1 SBC), which is coming off an 80-72 win over Arkansas State last Saturday, is led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.9 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game, three-point field goals made per game (2.6) and minutes played per game (39.3).

Junior Simone Fields is third in the league in scoring (15.6 ppg). Fields is first in the SBC in field goal percentage (.564) and eighth in rebounds per game (7.2).

Freshman Jasmine Thomas (10.2 ppg), junior Troi Swain (8.5 ppg), senior Gabby Alexander (6.7 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (5.2 ppg) and junior Jodi Quinn (4.5 ppg) all have seen significant playing time for the Cajuns.

ULM (3-10, 0-2 SBC) is coming off a 74-38 loss at Little Rock last Saturday. The Warhawks are coached by Jeff Dow, who is in his third season as head coach.

The Warhawks are led in scoring by junior guard Alexis Collins (11.9 ppg). Collins is third in the league in total assists per game (3.5). Junior Gabriella Cortez (11.5 ppg) leads the league in free throw percentage (.905) while senior Andreanna Jackson (9.4 ppg) also contributes for the Warhawks.
