Cajuns Head To Lone Star State To Face UT Arlington

Arlington, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team hits the road for a Sun Belt Conference matchup with UT Arlington on Thursday at the College Park Center.

Louisiana (10-4, 4-1 SBC), which is coming off a 79-52 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday, looks to extend its four game win streak when it faces the Lady Mavericks.

UTA (11-4, 4-1 SBC), which is coming off an 85-68 loss at Troy on Saturday, has won four straight on its home floor. The Lady Mavs have yet to play in the College Park Center in 2017 with their last four contests being played on the road.

Louisiana and UTA are currently tied for third-place in the Sun Belt Conference. Little Rock and Troy, which are tied for first as the only undefeated teams in league play, face off on Thursday evening in Little Rock, Ark.

The Cajuns are led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.8 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game and three-point field goals made per game (2.9). Gordon currently leads the nation in minutes played per game (39.1).

Junior Simone Fields is third in the league in scoring (16.4 ppg) and first in field goal percentage (.576). Freshman Jasmine Thomas (10.1 ppg), junior Troi Swain (9.1 ppg), senior Gabby Alexander (5.8 ppg) and junior Nekia Jones (5.4 ppg) all are key contributors for the Cajuns.

The Lady Mavericks are led by Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Rebekah Van Dijk. The junior center is second in the SBC in points per game (17.0). Van Dijk is first in the league in rebounds per game (9.7) and second in field goal percentage (.533).
