Cajuns Set To Host Georgia Southern In SBC Play

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team seeks its fourth straight win of the season against Georgia Southern on Saturday at the Cajundome.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Live video and live statistics are available at RaginCajuns.com with the game being broadcast in the Lafayette area on ESPN 1420-AM and worldwide courtesy of Radio Pup.

Louisiana (9-4, 3-1 SBC) is coming off a 72-65 win over Georgia State on Thursday and looks to close out the three-game homestand with a win.

The Cajuns are led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.9 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game and three-point field goals made per game (2.6). She leads the nation in minutes played per game (39.0).

Junior Simone Fields (16.4 ppg), freshman Jasmine Thomas (10.2 ppg) and junior Troi Swain (8.6 ppg) also lead the Cajuns in scoring.

Senior Gabby Alexander (6.1 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (4.9 ppg) and junior Jodi Quinn (4.5 ppg) all have seen significant playing time for the Cajuns.

Georgia Southern (5-10, 1-3 SBC) is coming off a 65-44 win at ULM on Thursday. The Eagles are coached by Kip Drown, who is in his second season as head coach.

Georgia Southern is led in scoring by senior forward Patrice Butler (14.8 ppg) while Angel McGowan (14.0 ppg) and Sierra Butler (6.7 ppg) also lead the Eagles.

Louisiana leads the all-time series with Georgia Southern 4-0. The Cajuns began the series with the Eagles in 2015. Louisiana posted a 56-49 win over Georgia Southern in the last meeting, which was held on March 5, 2016 in Lafayette.

Louisiana will hit the road for a game at UT Arlington on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. The Cajuns will then travel to San Marcos, Texas to face Texas State on Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
