Louisiana Golf Finishes Ninth At Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in ninth place with a three-round score of 32-over par (896) on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,088-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.
McNeese State hung on to claim the wire-to-wire team title with a 54-hole score of 2-over (866). Ole Miss (+8, 872), Lipscomb (+11, 875), Georgia State (+16, 880) and Kansas State (+19, 883) round out the top 5 teams.
Ole Miss's Braden Thornberry carded a 69 (-3) in the final round to take individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 7-under (209).
Sophomore Paul San recorded his second straight top 25 performance with an overall score of 5-over (221). Fernando Cruz Valle placed in a tie for 37th at 9-over (225), while Haraldur Magnus finished two strokes back in a tie for 49th.
Triston Elston ended the tournament in a tie for 53rd at 12-over (228). Ragnar Gardarsson rounded out the scoring for the Cajuns finishing in a tie for 61st at 15-over (231).
The Ragin' Cajuns return to action on April 24-26 as the squad heads to the Sun Belt Conference Championships hosted at the Raven Golf Course in Destin, Fla.
