Cajuns Close Out Weekend with 4-1 Win vs. Alcorn State

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team defeated Alcorn State, 4-1 on Sunday afternoon from Cajun Courts.
The victory improved the Cajuns record to 6-5 this season.
After falling behind in doubles, 1-0, the Cajuns came back to take the final two matches for the doubles point. Junior Dana Brankovic and sophomore Abby Johnson defeated Patricia Normand and Aakansksha, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. Senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava finished off the doubles round with a 6-4 win over Aida Kelic and Ivana Boberic, 6-4.
In singles, Clement took No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2 over Ekaterina Potapova. Abby Johnson defeated Marlene Maier, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Kelly Drew was retired, 1-5 at No. 1 singles by Kelic. Sava clinched the match for the Cajuns at No. 2 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Siobhan Ryan-Bovey.
"It's been a tough battle the last few days but every day the team fought hard," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Stephanie Vallejos said. "Today we had the chance to play a different lineup and it's great to see the team come together and play well for each other."
The Cajuns return to action this Tuesday, Feb. 23 for a 12:30 p.m. first serve at Louisiana Tech.
