Men's Tennis To Take On No. 50 Rice Sunday

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team (4-3) travels to Houston, Texas this Sunday, Feb. 14 for a 10 a.m. match against No. 50 Rice.

The Cajuns are coming off a victory at No. 66 North Florida this past Tuesday.

"Rice is off to a fast start this season and had a good win over LSU," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "One thing I will tell you - we will be ready to battle on Sunday. With our full team at full strength this is a challenge. I know the guys are ready to stay in the present for."

Cajuns freshman Aurthur Libaud is off to an impressive 5-1 start in singles play this spring. His five victories lead the team. Sophomore Vlad Kramarov is 4-2 in singles play, while senior Edgar Lopez, junior Eric Perez and junior Coleman Wahlborg each own three singles victories this season.

Rice comes into Sunday's matchup with a 6-1 record. The Owls' last match was last Saturday, Feb. 6, a 4-1 loss against Northwestern.

The team boasts three players who have double-digit wins in singles play. Jake Hansen and David Warren both own 12 wins, while Emanuel Llamas has 10 victories.

Rice's duo of Hansen and Llamas has provided the program with an 11-3 record in doubles play through seven matches this spring. Tommy Bennett and Jamie Malik have teamed up for a 10-4 mark in doubles, the second most wins among Owls.
