Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Set To Tee Off At The 2015 Sun Belt Championship

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to tee off at the 2015 Sun Belt Championship starting Sunday at the par-71, 6,900-yard Raven Golf Club.
Action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday with the first round as players will start off of holes one and ten. The second round is slated to start Monday morning, while the third and final round will take place Tuesday morning.
"This is what you prepare for all year long," head coach Theo Sliman said. "The old cliché is you win tournaments in the fall and championships in the spring. We welcome the challenge that the year has brought us, and we welcome the challenge that lies ahead. I have the upmost confidence in the five young men that represent our great university at this tournament. We certainly have players who can win the tournament individually. For us to win as a team, we need all five players to put together a complete tournament."
The Cajuns are paired with ULM and UALR for the first round of the 11-team championship tournament with the teams first player slated to start at 8:10 a.m. Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat.com.
Haraldur Magnus, Fernando Cruz Valle, Christian Verrougstraete, Louis Kelly and Thomas Strandemo make up the five-player lineup for the Cajuns at the SBC Championships.
Magnus ranks seventh in the Sun Belt with a 73.13 scoring average in 30 rounds. Cruz Valle is second on the squad with a 73.97 average while Verrougstraete is third with a 74.00 average.
"The key for the week is simple," Sliman added. "I'm not asking for them to do anything out of the ordinary. We've played with every one of the teams in our conference this season. The goal is that every one of our players needs to play to their potential for us to come away with the championship."
