Cajuns Wrap Up Season With Ninth Place Finish At 2015 SBC Championship

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team wrapped up its 2014-15 season on Tuesday with a ninth place finish at the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship hosted at the par-71, 6,900-yard Raven Golf Course.
Louisiana carded a score of 12-over par (296) to end the tournament with an overall score of 30-over (882).
"Obviously a disappointing week to cap a disappointing spring," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We expected much better from both this tournament and the season. I am proud of the way that this team represented the university throughout the year, and obviously its tough when your season comes to an end at the conference tournament. The good thing is that we bring most of the team back next season. We have some work to do to get back into the postseason next year."
Georgia Southern held on to win the team championship with an overall score of 3-under (849) despite posting a final round score of 11-over (295). UT Arlington (+13, 865), ULM (+14, 866), Georgia State (+15, 867) and Troy (+16, 868) round out the top five teams.
Kim Koivu captured the individual title with a 54-hole score of 6-under (207) after carding a 71 (E) on the day.
Haraldur Magnus recorded his eighth top 25 finish of the season placing in a tie for 12th at 4-over (217). Fernando Cruz Valle also placed in the top 25 as he ended the day two strokes back of Magnus in a tie for 21st at 6-over (219).
Senior Louis Kelly wrapped up his collegiate career in a tie for 32nd at 10-over (223). Thomas Strandemo finished in a tie for 48th at 16-over (229), while Christian Verrrougstraete capped the scoring for the Ragin' Cajuns in 51st at 18-over (231).
