LAFAYETTE, La. – The second-ranked Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to close out its nine-game homestand at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as the squad goes for a home and home series sweep of in-state rival Tulane.
 
The game will be broadcast live on myKLAF with Don Allen making the call and Kevin Cantrelle providing color. The broadcast will be simulcast on ESPN3.com. Fans can also listen to the game on ESPN 1420-AM with Jay Walker calling the action.
 
The Cajuns (26-3, 8-1 Sun Belt) are coming off of a series win against WKU after having their 14-game win streak snapped by the Hilltoppers in the series opener. Head Coach Tony Robichaux picked up his 700th victory at Louisiana in the series finale.
 
Junior Jace Conrad was named the LSWA Player of the Week after hitting .474 with nine hits including three doubles, a triple, grand slam and eight RBI in five games.
 
As a team, the Ragin' Cajuns lead the Sun Belt in 12 offensive categories including average (.310), runs (227), RBI (211), triples (14), home runs (34) slugging (.511), on base percentage (.411), walks (132) and stolen bases (48).
 
Senior Matt Hicks will make his first career start against Tulane. Hicks is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 16 innigs.
 
Louisiana is 7-0 in midweek games and 10-0 against teams from Louisiana. The Ragin' Cajuns have also won eight straight against non-conference opponents.
 
The Cajuns hold a 44-42 edge in the series despite the Green Wave having won seven of the last 10 meetings. The Cajuns won the only meeting between the two teams this season recording a 7-4 victory at Turchin Stadium in New Orleans. Sophomore Blake Trahan had a game-high three hits in the contest.
 
Tulane (13-13, 5-6 C-USA) coming into the game having dropped a pair of games to Marshall on the road over the weekend after knocking off No. 4 LSU 3-2 at home.
 
The Green Wave are hitting .233 as a team and are led by Hunter Hope and Richard Carthon offensively. Hope has a team-best .314 average with eight doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI, while Carthon is the only other Tulane player hitting over .300 at .305 and has scored a team-high 20 runs.
 
Corey Merrill will make the start for Tulane with a 0-1 record and a 5.06 ERA. Merrill gave up three runs on four hits in three innings against the Cajuns in a no decision.  
 
Following the game with the Green Wave, the Ragin' Cajuns head to Troy for a three-game conference series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
