LAFAYETTE, La. - After a ten-day break, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team will embark on a four-match road trip, starting with a pair of matches in back-to-back days in Mobile, Ala., taking on two of the Sun Belt's best, in Troy and South Alabama on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m., respectively.

"Troy and [South Alabama] have established themselves as two of the top teams in the Sun Belt, head coach Greg Harkins said.  "Coach [Rawia] Elsisi is doing a great job with Troy.  She has a balanced and seasoned squad that competes well in tough matches. Coach [Jaco] Kiser of USA has spent the last few seasons turning his team into a nationally ranked and conference championship contender."

The Cajuns (6-11) are coming off of a 7-0 victory over Alcorn State on March 18, snapping a four-match losing streak.  The Cajuns did not drop a set the entire match, beating the Lady Braves decisively at Cajuns Courts.

The Cajuns will look to bring momentum into their match against Troy (10-6), on Saturday, taking on a squad that has won nine of their last 11 matches, defeating Florida A&M, 4-0, in their last match for their fifth win in a row.

After a quick turnaround, the Cajuns will take on a strong South Alabama team, that brings a 10-1 record into the match.  The Jaguars are riding a two-match winning streak, defeating UAB, 5-2, and Texas State, 5-2, after dropping their only match of the season to Samford, 5-2.

"Nelo Phiri, Nicole Breaux and Melissa Burckhartt are playing some of their best tennis this spring," Harkins added.  "We look forward to them using that confidence to pace the team this weekend. The girls understand that they control their own fate in these conference match-ups, and know what we need to do to be successful it's time to put that experience into play."

Phiri and Breaux combined to grab three points for the Cajuns against Alcorn State, winning 8-1 in doubles, with Phiri winning, 7-6 & 6-4, and Breaux winning 6-2 & 6-0.

After their two-match stop in Mobile, the Cajuns will head to Monroe to take on ULM on April 4th, and Thibodaux to take on Nicholls State on April 9.
