Louisiana Men’s Tennis To Head to Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team is set to head to Birmingham to face UAB and Samford in a pair of non-conference matches this weekend.
The Cajuns (10-4) open with UAB (6-5) on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Tennis Center. Louisiana closes out the weekend with a 10 a.m. match against Samford (2-7) at the Samford Tennis Center.
Louisiana is coming off of a hard fought 4-3 defeat to 55th ranked George Washington on Monday at home.
Sophomore Hunter Johnson is a perfect 7-0 in singles competition this spring, while Damian Farinola and Edgar Lopez have a team-best eight wins in doubles play.
The Blazers have won their last two contests defeating Southern Miss 5-2 and Belmont 7-0. Chris Helliar leads the squad with a 5-4 record in singles playing at lines one and two.
The Bulldogs are set to face Eastern Kentucky on Thursday before facing the Cajuns. Samford has lost seven of its last eight matches. Elliot Barnwell paces the Bulldogs with a 5-4 singles record in singles at the No.1 position.
After the road trip to Birmingham, the Cajuns head home for four straight matches at Cajun courts starting with Alcorn State on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
