Men’s Tennis Falls In Hard-Fought Match To George Washington

LAFAYETTE, La. – The 62nd ranked Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 match to 55th ranked George Washington on Monday at Bourgeois Courts.

The Colonials (7-4) captured the doubles point winning on courts one and two. Damian Farinola and Edgar Lopez had the lone victory for the Cajuns (10-4), defeating Viktor Svensson and Ulrik Thomsen on court three, 8-3.

In singles play, Louisiana picked up victories at positions two, five and six. Sophomore Hunter Johnson notched his seventh straight win defeating Thomsen in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, on court six.

Rick de Groot won on court two edging out Francisco Dias in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, while Farinola also gutted out a three-set win against Julius Tverjonas, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

George Washington won on courts one, three and four to clinch the contest.

The Cajuns return to action this weekend with a pair of matches in Birmingham, Ala. against Samford and UAB.
