LAFAYETTE, La. – Riding a three-match win streak, the Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team is set to head to Texas for a pair of matches starting with a showdown at No. 6 Baylor on Friday at 7 p.m.

Following the contest against the Bears, the squad will head to UT Arlington for a match on Sunday at 10 a.m. against the conference foe.

"Baylor is going to be a great test for our guys," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "The Baylor players and coaches bring a competitive environment to the courts that as a team you have to be able take and thrive in, and then bring it to them.

"I feel that our team is ready for a good old fashion scrap. I want our team to really come out and bring it to Baylor and take their shots and then deliver our own throughout the match. I'm looking for our team to really compete at a high level amidst all of the distractions that I am sure the crowd and Baylor will try and bring."

The Cajuns (4-1) are 5-10 all time against Baylor with the last meeting coming in 2013. Louisiana holds a 2-1 record on the road this year with wins at Incarnate Word and Texas-Pan American with the lone loss coming at No. 12 Texas A&M.

"Baylor is featuring our match at night, so we will have the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd which is what you want as a coach and player," Jeffrey noted. "This experience will be a great one, and I look for us to thrive in it. As a player, I beat many nationally ranked teams in the top 10 and also beat number one players nationally as an individual and so on down the line.  As a player I lived for this and I thrived in this environment. I think our team will do the same Friday night."

The Bears come into the match riding a four-match win streak that includes three wins against ranked opponents. Baylor captured a 6-1 win over No. 73 Purdue last weekend and feature three players ranked nationally in singles including second ranked Julian Lenz and seventh ranked Patrick Pradella.

UT Arlington (0-2) is looking for its first win on the season having dropped contests against Rice 4-0 and Lamar 4-3. Louisiana is 12-4 all-time against the Mavericks with the last meeting coming in 2009 with a 5-2 win for the Cajuns.

"Playing a conference team is always important for seeding at the SBC championships, so Sunday we are looking forward to competing and seeing where the guys stack up after the weekend," Jeffrey added. "We have had a good week of practice. The guys a zeroing in on what they need to tweak to improve week to week, and we have made strides in several areas that we look to capitalize on this weekend."
