NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis squad is set to play a doubleheader on Saturday against Northwestern State and Prairie View A&M at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex starting at 10 a.m.

The Cajuns (3-5) face the Demons (2-3) in the opening match before a 2 p.m. contest with the Panthers.

"The team will have a tough test this weekend playing a doubleheader," head coach Greg Harkins said, "Coach Dubois's team is the defending Southland Conference Champion from last season bringing tremendous discipline and intensity to the court. The afternoon match verses Coach Cochran's Prairie View A&M squad will test our mental and physical capacity. It will be important for us to manage ourselves for both matches.

"A doubleheader is a great opportunity for the team to push itself both mentally and physically. It will help grow and prepare us for the challenges ahead and give us valuable match experience."

Louisiana is coming off of a hard fought 4-3 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday. The Cajuns have dropped their last three decisions after starting the season off with a 3-2 record.

Sophomore Juliette Clement leads the way for the Ragin' Cajuns with a 4-3 record in singles, while Clement and teammate Melissa Burckhartt are 3-2 in doubles competition.

"We have shown improvement over the span of the last few weeks but we will need to compete consistently from top to bottom if we are to be successful verses the Lady Demons and Panthers this Saturday. The girls understand the process and what they need to do to be successful. Our focus is on long term success for the program, continuing to learn and adapt each time we are on court. "

Northwestern State is playing its first home match of the season after dropping matches to No. 20 Auburn and No. 58 LSU last weekend. Aliona Ladutska paces the Demons with a 3-1 record in singles.

Prairie View (2-5) is coming off of home wins against Hampton and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Cajuns are slated to head to Charleston, S.C. for a pair of matches with College of Charleston and ETSU following Saturday's doubleheader.
