Cajuns Head to LSU Friday for Final Pre-Conference Meet

The Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's track and field teams return from a weekend off to take part in their final indoor meet before the Sun Belt Championships are held as they participate in the LSU Twilight held at the Carl Maddox Field House on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge on Friday.

Louisiana last competed as a team on Feb. 3, taking part in the Jeff Davis McNeese Indoor meet.

The LSU Twilight marks the fifth and final indoor meet before the Cajuns travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the Sun Belt Championships Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 25-26.

The Cajuns did have one individual compete last weekend as Albert Fournette threw the shot put in the prestigious Tyson Invitational last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. He threw the 13th best throw in the NCAA so far this season year and broke the indoor school record with a throw of 18.54m/60-10.

The field events are scheduled to get underway at 12:30 p.m. with the men's weight throw. The action starts on the track at 5:15 p.m. with the preliminary round of the men's and women's 60-meter hurdles.

Among the other teams competing in the meet are host-LSU, Hinds Community College, La.-Monroe, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Southern Mississippi and Tulane.

UL looks to add to its growing number of individual titles in the first indoor season under the direction of first-year head coach Lon Badeaux. Through the first four meets of the season, the Cajuns have picked up 13 titles.
