Louisiana continued its recent recipe for success in midweek games of building an early lead and getting solid relief pitching and the result was a 5-2 win over McNeese State Tuesday evening at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field in the final midweek game at the facility in the 2010 season.

The Cajuns (23-14) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings then saw six relievers limit the Cowboys (20-16) to four hits over the final six innings.

With the win Louisiana increased its season-best winning streak to nine games - the longest streak since opening the 2007 season with 10 straight wins.

UL also stretched its win streak over McNeese to eight games and improved to 20-14 under Tony Robichaux in the series. UL has now won 13 of the 17 meetings at "The Tigue" in the Robichaux Era.

The Ragin' Cajuns take a break from Sun Belt play Friday-Sunday, April 23-25, hosting Le Moyne College in a three-game, non-conference series at "The Tigue". UL will be celebrating Alumni Weekend and will honor the 2000 College World Series team prior to the start of Saturday's contest. Start times are 6 p.m., on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m., on Sunday.

Justin Robichaux led the Cajuns with three RBI. Kyle Olasin picked up two hits and collected two stolen bases. Alex Fuselier scored a pair of runs and swiped a bag.

Michael Cook started for UL, pitched three innings and faced only one over the minimum. He limited the Cowboys to only one hit en route to earning his second win of the season.

Fuselier drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second and came around to score the game's first run on a Lance Marvel single to right field.

After Marvel stole second base, Robichaux doubled down the left field line to drive in the second run. With the bases loaded, Matt Goulas beat out a double play ball to allow Robichaux to score upping the lead to 3-0.

Robichaux came through with the bases loaded in the third inning when he drove a single up the middle to score two additional runs.

MSU registered a run in the fifth inning when Jordan Venable doubled into the left field corner to score Seth Granger from first base.

Randall Bulliard and Blake Wascom pitched the sixth and seventh innings and combined faced only one over the minimum to hold MSU in check.

The Cowboys wouldn't go quietly, loading the bases in the eighth and ninth innings.

Joey Satriano got out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in the eighth by getting Jace Peterson to strike out swinging and Steven Irvine to strike out looking.

Dayton Marze issued a leadoff walk to Granger and with one out hit Bryn Thompson and Venable to load the bases. A single by Josh LeBert scored pinch runner Mace Hebert and sliced the UL lead to 5-2.

Marze escaped the jam by getting a called third strike on Blake Ellender and fielding a chopper from Andy Riche' to record the final out.
