Soccer Comes Up Short At Tulsa, 2-1

Both teams played to a 0-0 standstill during the first half. The Ragin' Cajuns were able to fire off three shots with Courtney Hofland and Delainia McGee having one shot on goal each. Tulsa was able to take eight shots but UL's Amanda Moorefield recorded five saves to preserve the tie going into halftime.
The Golden Hurricane's Mackenzie Ayer was able to break the tie in the 51st minute with a goal from inside the box on the right side after an assist by Rachel Garcia.
The Cajuns answered minutes later with Kelli Jestes scoring from inside the box in the 63rd minute to tie the game 1-1. It was the junior captain's first goal on the season.
Tulsa had a chance to go up a goal with a penalty kick in the 83rd minute but freshman goalkeeper Lauren Berlingo was able to make the save. Minutes later, Kayla Chambers was able to find the back of the net after an assist from Jennifer Kacegris to seal the 2-1 win.
Moorefield (0-1-1) finished with seven saves on the night but Berlingo (0-1-0) was awarded the loss after recording two saves.
Tulsa posted 15 shots during the match with 11 of those shots coming on goal.
The Cajuns recorded six shots on the night with Jestes leading UL with one goal on two shots. Four other Cajuns had one shot apiece.
On Sunday the Ragin' Cajuns will travel to Stillwater, Okla. to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. CT.
