Cowgirls Blank Cajuns On The Road, 7-0

STILLWATER, Okla. - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns (0-3-1) soccer team wrapped up its weekend of road matches on Sunday with a disappointing loss, as Oklahoma State (2-1-0) was able to defeat UL, 7-0. It was the first shutout suffered by the Ragin' Cajuns this season.
The Cajuns fell behind early in the match after the Cowgirls scored two goals in the fifth and 12th minute. The first goal came after Annika Niemeier was able to rebound a blocked shot and dish a pass to Kasey Lagdon for the score. On the following goal, Siera Strawser was able to beat Lauren Berlingo and to find the back of the net. Oklahoma State was able to stifle UL's offense and tacked on a third goal in the 34th minute when Megan Marchesano kicked in a loose ball for a 3-0 lead at the half.
OSU continued the offensive trend in the second half, scoring in the 53rd minute, the 71st minute and in the 81st. In the 90th minute of the match, the Cowgirls were able to score one more time for the final score, 7-0.
Megan Marchesano led the Cowgirls with two goals on the day.
The Cajuns struggled offensively during the match recording only four shots and no corner kicks. Brooke Perry and Carleigh Martin each recorded one of UL's two shots on goal.
The Ragin' Cajuns return to action on Friday against Northwestern State at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer and Track facility. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. CT.
