Cajuns Grab First Win Over FAU, 2-0

Cayla Chatman and Maci Andrus were able to score one goal apiece as Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns soccer team was able garner their first win of the 2009 season over Florida Atlantic. With the 2-0 shutout win over the Owls, the Cajuns recorded their first Sun Belt win of the season and snapped a 12-game losing streak.
The Cajuns grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 39th minute of the first half. Chatman was able to find the back of the net for the Cajuns' first goal from the center of the box. The shot was able to beat FAU's Ashley Lantes in the upper left corner. It was the freshman's second career goal.
Andrus was able to put the game away in the 80th minute for UL. Andrus was able to draw the keeper out of the net and score on the rebound as the ball slipped through Lantes' hands. It was Andrus' first career goal.
Chatman led the Cajuns with five shots, three coming on frame.
Louisiana's Lauren Berlingo recorded her first career shutout, garnering five saves in the contest.
The Cajuns (1-12-1, 1-5 Sun Belt) will wrap up the 2009 home schedule next weekend. On Friday, UL will host Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. CT. On Sunday, the Cajuns will take on Middle Tennessee in the last home game of the year. The game is the "Cajuns Kick to Beat Breast Cancer" game. Fans wearing pink get in free and the team's jerseys will be auction off at the end of the game to benefit breast cancer research.
