The first half was a back-and-forth battle that resulted in a 0-0 tie. Western Kentucky was able to fire off seven shots, only one of which was on frame. The Cajuns recorded four shots of their own, with Kelli Jestes posting one shot on goal.
The standstill continued well into the 70th minute until the Lady Toppers were able to go up 1-0. Mallory Outbridge was able to beat Dani Presley in the box after an assist by Katie Walker.
The Cajuns came close to knotting the score in the final seconds after Cayla Chatman blasted a shot inside the keeper's box. But the effort was for naught as Libby Stout made a diving save as the official blew the final whistle.
Louisiana recorded nine shots on the match. Three Cajuns recorded shots on goal.
In her first career match in goal, Dani Presely recorded three saves in the losing effort.
The Cajuns will wrap up their 2009 home slate on Sunday as Middle Tennessee comes to town.
Fans wearing pink will receive free admission in support of the "Cajuns Kick to Beat Breast Cancer" event. The Cajuns will also be sporting limited-edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off at the end of the game to benefit breast cancer research. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer Field.
