Cajuns Offense Remains Cold

LAFAYETTE- Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns battled the Troy Trojans Friday at Cajun Track and Soccer Field. The Cajuns fought hard but again came up empty handed on offense as they lost 1-0. The Cajuns fell to 4-11-2 on season and 2-6-1 in conference play.

The Trojans opened up the scoring in the ninth minute when Mary Morris headed the ball on net. Cajuns goalkeeper Amanda Moorefield made a diving save. Unfortunately the save bounced right to Bridget Duke, who put in the empty net.

The Trojans maintained the 1-0 at half despite the Cajuns nine shots in the first half.

Chelsea Balestra had a golden chance glance off her foot in the 67^th minute when a ball came free across the box. Balestra gathered the ball but her shot sailed left on her and the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Trojans.

Balestra led the Cajuns offense with three total shots and two on goal. Courtney Hofland, Jordan Blevins, Callie Oliver and Kelli Jestes each had shots on goal for the Cajuns.

Freshman Amanda Moorefield finished with four saves and one goal allowed. She is now 0-3 on the year.

The Cajuns return to the pitch Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. to take on the South Alabama Jaguars. Following the home weekend the Cajuns will play ULM at home Friday Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. It will be the final regular season game for UL in their 2008 campaign.
