LAFAYETTE-After dropping game one of a doubleheader 6-5 in 10 innings, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team fell behind 6-0 before rallying to a 10-6 victory over Western Kentucky on Saturday night at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

The Cajuns (26-7, 11-4 Sun Belt) trailed 6-0 before an eight-run sixth inning lifted the Cajuns.  The Ragin' Cajuns improved to 16-1 at the Tigue.

UL scored 10 runs on the night despite collecting just six hits.  Jefferies Tatford finished the game 3-for-4 with a game-changing grand slam in the sixth inning.  The homerun was Tatford's seventh of the year and third against Western Kentucky.  Tatford hit a homer in the first game of the series on Friday night and added a homerun in game one of the doubleheader.  Tatford finished the game with three hits, two runs, five RBI and a hit by pitch.

Kolin Hatfield, Scott Hawkins and Jonathan Lucroy were the only other Cajuns to collect hits.

Gregory Harmon (1-0) earned the victory for the Cajuns.  The sophomore entered the game in the fourth inning.  He worked the final six innings of play surrendering just two runs on five hits.  Harmon tied a career high by fanning nine batters, while issuing just one walk.

Western Kentucky was the first to score in the second game of the twin bill.  In the second inning the Toppers used a double and an RBI single to scratch the scoreboard and take a 1-0 lead.

The Toppers extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning.  A single through the left side of the infield got WKU started.  A walk gave Western Kentucky a pair of baserunners.  The Hilltoppers showed bunt but pulled the bat back and slapped the ball over Jefferies Tatford at first for a double down the right field line.  The double scored one but left the Toppers with a pair of runners in scoring position with no outs.  A single through the right side plated another run and gave WKU runners on the corners.  The Cajuns went to the bullpen and brought in Gregory Harmon.  With his second pitch of the inning, Harmon induced a double play.  The lead runner scored, but the Cajuns now had two outs in the inning.  Harmon ended the inning as he struck out the next batter.

A pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning increased the Hilltoppers lead to six runs.  Leading 4-0, Western Kentucky started the inning with a single and a walk.  A sacrifice bunt advanced the runners into scoring position.  A single up the middle scored a pair of runners and gave WKU the 6-0 edge.

The Ragin' Cajuns put together an eight-run inning to capture the lead.  Tatford led off the inning by being hit by a pitch.  Lucroy singled through the left side of the infield giving the Cajuns a pair of runners.  An RBI single by Hawkins plated Tatford from second base to give UL their first run of the game.

A deep fly ball was enough to advance the runners.  Following a pitching change, Hatfield singled up the middle to cut the Western Kentucky lead in half at 6-3.

Matt Hicks entered the game as a pinch hitter and drew a five-pitch walk.  A second pitching change for the Toppers did nothing to change the Cajuns' momentum.  Devon Bourque drew one of his three walks on the night, loading the bases.  A fielding error continued the inning, allowed a run to score and left the bases load for the Cajuns.

After a strikeout, Tatford cleared the bases and gave the Cajuns lead with one swing.  He hit his third homerun of the series and first grand slam of the season to complete the Cajuns' eight-run inning.

The Cajuns added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Bourque led off the inning with a walk, but was erased as Casbon reached on a fielder's choice.  Nolan Gisclair worked the count full before drawing a walk.  Tatford singled to right center to drive in his fifth run of the game.  A sacrifice fly by Lucroy gave the Cajuns their second run of the inning and the final margin of victory, 10-6.

The Ragin' Cajuns will hit the road for eight of the next nine games beginnings with a midweek trip to New Orleans to take on in-state opponent Tulane.  The game with the Green Wave is slated for 6:30 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday, Apr. 10.
