Cajuns Rebound to Claim Series from WKU

LAFAYETTE-After dropping game one of a doubleheader 6-5 in 10 innings,
The Cajuns (26-7, 11-4 Sun Belt) trailed 6-0 before an eight-run sixth inning lifted the Cajuns. The Ragin' Cajuns improved to 16-1 at the Tigue.
UL scored 10 runs on the night despite collecting just six hits. Jefferies Tatford finished the game 3-for-4 with a game-changing grand slam in the sixth inning. The homerun was Tatford's seventh of the year and third against
Kolin Hatfield, Scott Hawkins and Jonathan Lucroy were the only other Cajuns to collect hits.
Gregory Harmon (1-0) earned the victory for the Cajuns. The sophomore entered the game in the fourth inning. He worked the final six innings of play surrendering just two runs on five hits. Harmon tied a career high by fanning nine batters, while issuing just one walk.
The Toppers extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning. A single through the left side of the infield got WKU started. A walk gave
A pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning increased the Hilltoppers lead to six runs. Leading 4-0,
The Ragin' Cajuns put together an eight-run inning to capture the lead. Tatford led off the inning by being hit by a pitch. Lucroy singled through the left side of the infield giving the Cajuns a pair of runners. An RBI single by Hawkins plated Tatford from second base to give UL their first run of the game.
A deep fly ball was enough to advance the runners. Following a pitching change, Hatfield singled up the middle to cut the
Matt Hicks entered the game as a pinch hitter and drew a five-pitch walk. A second pitching change for the Toppers did nothing to change the Cajuns' momentum. Devon Bourque drew one of his three walks on the night, loading the bases. A fielding error continued the inning, allowed a run to score and left the bases load for the Cajuns.
After a strikeout, Tatford cleared the bases and gave the Cajuns lead with one swing. He hit his third homerun of the series and first grand slam of the season to complete the Cajuns' eight-run inning.
The Cajuns added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bourque led off the inning with a walk, but was erased as Casbon reached on a fielder's choice. Nolan Gisclair worked the count full before drawing a walk. Tatford singled to right center to drive in his fifth run of the game. A sacrifice fly by Lucroy gave the Cajuns their second run of the inning and the final margin of victory, 10-6.
