Statistical Recap

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Western Kentucky continued their dominance over Louisiana-Lafayette with a 71-43 victory on Thursday night in Bowling Green. The Lady Toppers have won all 26 meetings between the two schools.

Head coach J. Kelley Hall?s Cajuns (3-12, 0-5) continued their January woes, dropping their sixth of the month and seventh straight dating back to Dec. 22.

A 15-3 run by the Lady Toppers (9-8, 4-2) in the last five minutes of the first half gave the hosts a huge 47-18 halftime edge. WKU shot 58 percent in the opening frame, including 75 percent (6-of-8) from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Cajuns were only able to convert 25 percent of their shots in the first 20 minutes.

WKU?s Leslie Logsdon torched UL Lafayette for the second straight year. The junior guard topped last season's 13 points and 11 rebounds with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting in only 27 minutes.

Charlotte Green fought through a shadow and double-teams most of the night to score 13 points. The Lafayette native is now 29 points shy of 1,000 for her career. Anna Petrakova recorded her third career double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lady Toppers protected their lead in the second half by controlling the pace of the game. The Cajuns could never get into a rhythm offensively, shooting just 29.6 percent in the game, although UL Lafayette did outscore WKU 25-24 in the second half.

Two three-pointers by Green was the only offense the Cajuns had in the first six minutes of the game, falling behind 14-6.

Green's third triple pulled the Cajuns to within nine, 22-13. WKU's Kristina Covington answered with her own basket from behind the arc to jumpstart the Lady Toppers to an 8-0 run and a 30-13 advantage.

The Cajuns will travel to Murfreesboro on Saturday for match-up with Middle Tennessee.
