Statistical Recap

Murfreesboro, TN - UL Lafayette dropped their eight straight game with a 61-41 loss at Middle Tennessee on Saturday night.

The Lady Raiders improve to 10-9 (4-3), while Louisiana-Lafayette falls to 3-13 (0-6).

After a disastrous first half that saw UL Lafayette score only 12 points and trail by 18, the Cajuns scratched back to within nine points, 46-37, with a 13-5 offensive run.

Sarah Richey started the spurt by hitting a three-pointer with 12 minutes remaining. Anna Petrakova followed with three baskets around a three-pointer by Charlotte Green. Sharee Glenn converted a Tammie White pass to put the Cajuns within single digits for the first time in the second half.

Momentum quickly shifted back to the hosts as MT used a 13-2 run to pull away against a tired and dejected Cajuns squad.

Glenn led the Cajuns with 12 points. Petrakova added 10 points and 11 rebounds to post her second straight double-double and fourth of the season. Green also added 10 points and is now 19 points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Mia Parviainen led the victors with 13 points, while Patrice Holmes scored 11. Both players contributed nine rebounds.

Another poor shooting performance by the Cajuns put them in a large hole at the end of the first half. UL Lafayette made just 4-of-22 shots and committed 13 turnovers. Middle Tennessee converted the Cajuns miscues into 19 points en route a 30-12 halftime lead.

The Cajuns received only a short jumper by Richey in the first nine minutes as the Lady Raiders built an 11-2 lead.

Four straight points by Petrakova cut MT's lead to 11-6, but Parviainen drilled consecutive three-pointers to pull the Lady Raiders ahead 17-6.

A free throw by Glenn was the only blemish on MT's 15-1 run. The Cajuns trailed 26-7 with 4:35 remaining in the first half.

The Cajuns return home for a pair of Sun Belt games against North Texas and Denver on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Both games at Earl K. Long Gym will start at 7pm.
