Rylan Theyard
Rylan Theyard enters his second season as an assistant coach in 2024-25. Theyard spent the previous five years as a member of the Ragin’ Cajuns as a jumper.

Theyard helped the Cajun men win their first Sun Belt Conference indoor title since 1996, while high jumper Alaysha Veal won a conference title on the women's side. Veal's jump of 5-9.75 set the program's indoor record. Theyard also coached Jeremy Nelson to his second SBC indoor title in the triple jump.

In his first season on staff, Theyard oversaw one of the best seasons of jumps in school history, with six new entries into the record books. Jeremy Nelson finished second at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships and advanced to the National Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Kennedy Washington and Alaysha Veal qualified for the East Regional in the high jump as well.

Theyard comes off a Cajun career that saw him have a strong 2023 season. As a senior, he finished second at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships in the triple jump along with a third-place finish in the long jump, setting a personal best at 7.38 meters.

The New Orleans native finished his career with three All-Conference selections, twice in the triple jump and another in the long jump. His personal bests include 15.44 meters in the triple jump and 2.10 meters in the high jump.

While a student-athlete at Louisiana, Theyard was part of the 2022 Homecoming Court and a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the National Panhellenic Council.
