Chris Anderson was hired as the Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports at the University of Louisiana in June of 2021. In his role, Chris will oversee the performance training programs for Ragin’ Cajun Softball, Golf, and Men’s & Women’s Cross Country teams.
Prior to his arrival in Lafayette, Anderson served as an Assistant Sports Performance Coordinator at Oregon State University for eight years (2012-20) working primarily as the Sports Performance Coach for Baseball, helping them to three Pac-12 Championships, three trips to the College World Series and the 2018 National Championship. In addition, Chris also assisted with the Football and Men’s Rowing teams.
Before Oregon State, he served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at Colorado State University (2011-12) where he worked with Football, Track & Field, Women’s Swimming & Diving, Tennis, and Water Polo. From 2006 to 2011, Anderson was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Western Illinois University working directly with the Football, Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball teams, and overseeing the strength and conditioning programs for the remaining 13 teams in WIU’s athletics department.
Anderson went to WIU after two years (2004-06) working with Football, Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Women’s Rowing, and Volleyball teams as a member of the Powercat Strength and Conditioning Staff at Kansas State University. Prior to K-State, Anderson spent three years at the University of Maine (2001-04) where he oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for 17 teams, working directly with the Football, Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Track & Field, Softball, Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Ice Hockey teams.
He arrived at Maine after working a year as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Idaho State (2000-01) and having worked the previous baseball season as a Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coach in the Cleveland Indians organization. He oversaw the strength & conditioning and nutrition program for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (2000).
A 1996 graduate of California State University, Stanislaus, Anderson earned his bachelor’s degree while lettering in Baseball and Cross Country. He then earned his master’s degree in 2002 from Idaho State. He is certified through the CSCCa as an SCCC and Master Strength & Conditioning Coach, the NSCA as a CSCS & CPT as well as being an NSCA Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach Emeritus.
In addition, Anderson is certified as a Speed and Agility Coach with the NSPA, RPR Level 2 Coach with Reflexive Performance Reset, and he is a USA Weightlifting National Coach, USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach, and is FMS Level 1 Certified with Functional Movement Systems. He is currently working to complete his Postural Restoration Trained credential through the Postural Restoration Institute as well as PN Nutrition Level 1 Coach through Precision Nutrition.
A native of Fremont, Nebraska, Anderson is a family man who proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He and his wife, Teri Lynette, currently reside in Lafayette with their four children Christopher, Joseph, Nathaniel, Gabriella, and Teri’s widowed mother, Debra Estrada. Anderson and his family are avid martial artists, each having earned their Blackbelts in Taekwondo and are studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They enjoy spending as much time as possible with each other and their dog Pepper.
