2020 Season (Redshirt Junior)
Started 13 games behind the plate, throwing out a 12 runners and tallying a .368 stolen base percentage…Toro ended back-to-back games against Sam Houston State by gunning down runners at second base…Became the first UL catcher since Michael Strentz in 2014 to throw out two runners in consecutive games…At the plate, Toro slashed .293/.431/.317, adding six runs and six RBI…Toro led the lead on OBP and placed second on the team in OPS and batting average.
2019 Season (Junior)
Played in 11 games, getting seven starts behind the plate during 2019…Hit well in those 11 games going 8-for-36 which is good for a .308 average…With his limited play, Toro was able to produce six RBI…Had two games where he amassed two hits…Against Maryland, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and against Loyola Marymount he had two hits and scored a run…Also earned a medical redshirt last season.
Prior To Louisiana
Spent two seasons at Seminole State College (2017-18)…During his first season, appeared in 48 games, averaging .273 with two home runs, 33 RBI and 34 runs scored…Followed that up in his second year with a .374 average and three homers, 19 RBI and 25 runs in 32 games played…Helped his team to two Regionals and two Super Regionals…Named to the NJCAA II All-Tournament Team in 2017.
